La Palma is one of Orange County's finest cities. If you are looking
for a break, then La Palma is the city for you. The population of La
Palma was 15,408 at the 2000 census. It was originally incorporated
as Dairyland but changed its name to the main street bisecting the
town, La Palma Avenue, when the dairies moved in the 1960's. A group
of dairy farmers launched the city as "Dairyland" in 1955 in an
effort to keep their land from tract-home developers
Housing tracts cover
much of the city, which, covering only 1.76
square miles is the smallest in Orange County in terms of land size.
Small shopping centers dot the streets, and there is a modest
industrial park.
City staff members say they expect a wealth of new
jobs and sales tax revenue to be generated by Centerpointe La Palma,
a business industrial and recreational complex in the northern part
of the city.
The city's vision is the power to imagine a future that sustains the
positive values of the present. It believes in
growth and sustaining
itself. So come and make yourself a resident of this beautiful city.
Since many of La Palma's residential structures were built nearly
thirty years ago, the city's homes are currently undergoing extensive
remodeling.
