Villa Park is an incorporated city located in northern Orange County,
California. Villa Park is Orange County's smallest city in size and
population, the population was 5,999 at the 2000 census. Villa Park
is an enclave of the city of Orange. Villa Park currently includes
about 1,900 homes, and is about 99% built out. On Jan 2, 1962,
residents voted 246 to 134 in favor of incorporation.Today, although
primarily a residential city,Villa Park does have a combination
of
retail and commercial businesses.
Villa Park was, for many years, an agricultural area producing, in
turn, grapes, walnuts, apricots, and finally, citrus, which was the
major crop for about 60 years and is most closely associated with its
development.
It was known in its early days as Mountain View. Villa Park came into
usage when the post office was founded and the name Mountain View was
already taken by a city in Northern California. Although orange
groves now have given way to houses and a small shoppingcenter,Orange County's 24th city stillis
quiet and not crowded.And the
over 6,000 people who live within its 2.6 square miles intend to keep
it that way.
Villa Park's tree is the Weeping Fig; the City flower is the Orange
Blossom; the City bird is the Hummingbird; and the City motto is "Villa Park, the Hidden Jewel",
Villa Park is Orange County's smallest city, but one of its
friendliest and most welcoming places to live.
So come to this Hidden Jewel, that is friendly in atmosphere and at
heart.
